Changing Expectations, by Kevin

Like Jodi mentioned, we've realized our expectations of being able to hit the ground running were way off. We need to learn how to cook. :)

We'll also feel better once we find a car and a more permanent place to stay.

We've also realized that until we get much more settled in (a few months probably), we're likely going to be spending more each month as opposed to less. Food, especially, is going to cost more until we're able to find creative ways to make rice and beans concoctions that taste good. We spent $200 on food at the grocery store today that looks like it should've cost less than $100. Decreasing that cost is going to take some time, I think.

Buying a car is going to be expensive, too. And, I think we'll have to get a bit nicer of a place to live, just because of electrical wiring needs to accommodate me working from home, if for no other reason.

But, we had a lot of fun at a new beach today (Tamarindo Beach) for a couple hours! It's been really good to mix fun in with all the boring logistics of getting settled. Jodi and I now have our first sunburns. Sorry to rub that in, I know it snowed in Utah last night. If it makes you feel better, we got lost on the way there, turning our 30-minute drive to over an hour (at least). We accidentally found a sea turtle reserve place, though. :)
