Surf Lessons, by Kevin
Late this afternoon we went with Cesar (our branch president) to the beach. We signed the kids up for lessons and Jodi and rented boards. Jacko, of course, picked it up immediately. Autumn was doing awesome and really starting to get the hang of it. Sadie and Tessa did great by riding the surfboards like boogie boards. Jodi and I struggled to catch the waves and, when we did, ate a lot of salt water. I was already sore upon leaving the water. A strict daily regimen of push-ups is definitely in order. But we all loved every second of it.
After surfing, Cesar, Dianais (Cesar's wife), and David (Dianais's brother) went to dinner and then got milkshakes (really thin milkshakes but still pretty good) with us in Tamarindo.
The highlight of the day, though, was while we were saying goodbye to Cesar, Dianais, and David. At the end of our conversation, Jacko ran up to me and said, "There's Shel and Trent! There's Shel and Trent!" I looked up and not 20 feet away Shel and Trent were turning around and walking away from us! I yelled, "Ola Familia Clegg!" in my super soft voice that doesn't carry at all. The entire neighborhood looked over at us, including Shel and fam. They had been walking down a row of little shops doing some last-minute souvenir shopping, searching for a shoe shop. They had come to the end of the shops (around 20 feet from where we had parked) and were turning around to go back and find the shoe shop. It was so crazy. We would've missed them if Jack hadn't seen them. It was perfect because their flight leaves tomorrow afternoon so we got to say goodbye and see them one last time before they fly back. So awesome to see them one last time.
We love family.
Autumn almost catching a wave
Jacko and Autumn with Cesar
Me missing another one. Or maybe this is the one I caught for a second but ended up landing on top of a bunch of rocks. :)
Autumn catching one
Cute Tessa
Sweet Sadie
(She lost us for awhile and we had no idea -- we could see her just fine and knew exactly where she was but she had lost us, so very sad for us once we found out)

I was so happy to see you and your family just before we left too. For sure a tender mercy!
