New Discoveries, by Kevin
Sadie went snorkeling for the first time, ever. Remember that Sadie loves feeling comfortable. Adventure is not her thing, staying in a safe, familiar environment is much more her style. Putting her face in the water is a big deal. Getting in the ocean is a big deal. Putting her face in the water, in the ocean... we're so proud of her.
Tessa hasn't been real keen on bananas in the past, she told me yesterday, "you know what's weird?" and the weird thing was that she likes bananas here. I've always hated tomatoes and guacamole. I tried them again here (I've tried them many times before) and I actually like them! Maybe there's nothing to it but it seems strange.
Last night the Johnson's invited us to join them for a short trip up to Las Catalinas/Playa Danta, a remote black sand beach. It was a ton of fun. The Blanchards came up a bit later as well. There's a fun playground there as well and all of the kids were playing with each other and having the time of their lives. We also ate a really good dinner there and talked with each other for quite awhile. It was an outdoor setting and there were fire flys in the trees between us and the beach. It was an amazing setting and so fun getting to know our new friends.
While at Playa Danta, Sadie and I (and later Tessa) walked a little ways down the beach and happened to notice some disturbance in the water. After watching for a bit, there were a bunch of small fish that kept jumping up out of the water. They were probably mating or something but the image that kept coming into my mind was of that nature show where the dolphins spin sardines into a tight circle and then force them to the top of the water. Then, a feeding frenzy begins with dolphins, sharks, seagulls, etc. We went to a different part of the beach. :)
After dinner the Johnson's and Blanchard's took us to a gelataria they had previously discovered. We'll definitely be going back there.
New discoveries are so awesome.
I'll post pics later. It takes way too long to upload them and we're off to see a possible house for us to live in (and go to the beach, of course).
